Goal Statement
The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge and competence of learners who care for patients with diseases of the kidneys.

Target Audience
This educational program is intended for nephrology physicians, nurse practitioners and physician associates.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Nephrology at the Helm—Advancing Timely CKD Care Through Cross-Specialty Collaboration

  • Identify the multidirectional associations of CKD with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
  • Develop strategies to position nephrology healthcare professionals as central coordinators in cross-specialty care teams to ensure seamless, patient-centered CKD management
  • Apply guideline-directed therapeutic management of CKD to slow or prevent disease progression and reduce cardiovascular risk

A New Paradigm In IgAN Management— Advancing Clinical Practice in the Era of Therapeutic Expansion

  • Differentiate the mechanistic targets of novel therapies for IgAN, including those that modulate the complement pathway, endothelin system, APRIL, and dual APRIL/BAFF signaling
  • Assess the most recent clinical efficacy and safety data on emerging IgAN therapies to support personalized treatment decisions
  • Implement patient-centered strategies incorporating novel IgAN treatments to slow disease progression and optimize long-term outcomes

Agenda

10:30–10:35 AM ET Welcome & Introduction
Moderator: Kelly Chen, BMS, MSN, NP

10:35–11:35 AM ET Nephrology at the Helm—Advancing Timely CKD Care Through Cross-Specialty Collaboration
Presented by Chuck Vega MD, FAAFP and Jay B. Wish, MD

  • Be a leader in CKD care! Learn about connections with T2D and CVD and interdisciplinary guideline-directed care from experts in the field.

11:35–11:40 AM ET Break

11:40–12:40 PM ET A Triad of Diseases: A Treatment Strategy for Patients With T2D, CVD, and CKD
Presented by Carlos Bejar, MD

  • Learn more about the connection between type 2 diabetes (T2D) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) and how patients with these conditions are at an increased cardiovascular (CV) risk in a multidisciplinary discussion. Explore guideline recommendations for T2D patients with CKD, and/or cardiovascular disease (CVD). Look at the efficacy and safety from a clinical trial that included cardiorenal outcomes. We will also review important dosing and administration information.

This non-CME educational program is sponsored by Novo Nordisk and managed by Clinical Care Solutions, a CEA Company.

12:40–12:45 PM ET Break

12:45–1:45 PM ET A New Paradigm ln IgAN Management—Advancing Clinical Practice in the Era of Therapeutic Expansion
Presented by Andrew S. Bomback, MD, MPH and Duvuru Geetha, MD

  • Learn about the latest evidence for novel and emerging IgA nephropathy (IgAN) therapies, including their mechanistic targets and how these modulate the complement pathway. Experts will share strategies to incorporate these therapies in patient-centered care plans that prioritize the slowing of IgAN progression and optimize long-term outcomes.

1:45–1:50 PM ET Closing Remarks
Moderator: Kelly Chen, BMS, MSN, NP
